VIETNAM TRIP BASICS · EDITOR REVIEWED

Start with the decisions that shape the whole trip.

VIETPLAN starts with stay zones, practical travel time, pacing and a budget buffer instead of simply adding more places. These are the same principles used by the planner, written so you can inspect the reasoning before generating a trip.

01

Area before hotel

A good hotel on the wrong side of the city adds a ride to every day. Choose the zone where you will spend most of your time, then compare class and price inside it.

02

Group nearby zones

Short map distance does not account for rivers, bridges or rush hour. Keep morning and afternoon in neighboring zones and limit long returns to once a day.

03

Move only when it pays off

Checkout and luggage handling consume part of a day. One hotel is the default up to three nights; split stays are recommended from four or five nights when the second zone earns at least two nights.

04

Separate spend and buffer

Estimated spend combines flights, stays, food, transport and activities; the recommended budget adds room for price changes. Flights and hotels must be rechecked before payment.
